    Dr Ianthe Boden is a Surgical Specialist Physiotherapist at the Launceston General Hospital, Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Tasmania, and an NHMRC Emerging Leader Research Fellow. Dr Boden graduated as a Physiotherapist in 2000 and obtained a Master’s in Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy in 2010. Her PhD on the prevention of pulmonary complications and improving recovery after abdominal surgery produced one of the PEDro Top 20 Physiotherapy trials of all time – LIPPSMAck POP with the health economic analysis also winning the Journal of Physiotherapy’s Paper of the Year in 2020. Her most recent RCT, ICEAGE, won the 2019 World Physiotherapy Best Clinical Trial. She is currently leading the CHESTY study, a consortium of 35 hospitals across 6 countries assessing the incidence of pulmonary complications and physiotherapy management of patients having major surgery.
